Beckett Heat Manager or Argo Outdoor Reset
I just installed a WG Gold Oil fired hot water boiler. I have an Argo 3 zone relay. Was wondering what is the verdict on either the Heat Manager or the Outdoor reset? Cost is about the same and installation seems straight forward on both devices (the Argo plugs directly into my current Argo).0 -
Use the
Argo, nothing against the Beckett, But I use the ARGO controls, and the plug and play eliminates wiring errors, and it works great.
I also like the idea of the OR communicating with the control strategy0 -
HONEYWELL AQ2000
Please provide a better link or model number, Honeywell's site is not very user friendly.0 -
Here is what you would need
3 AQ1000TN2 Communicating Thermostats(1 per zone)
1 AQ2514B2 Reset & relay panel (for zone valves w/o end switches or for pumps)
OR 1 AQ2514B4 reset & relay panel for zone valves with end switches.
2 AQ12C11 sensors, one for supply, one for return
1 AQ12C10 outside air sensor
This will give you outside temp reset(cruise control for your house) a power module, a valve or pump control module, good for up to 4 of either, plus controls for your indirect water heater,if you have one. You can program up to 4 periods per day setback. Diplays time, date & status on module, OA temp and room temp and setpoint on each stat.
Available from any hydronic-oriented Honeywell distributor. If you drop me an email with your address, I will send you complete info.

Outdoor reset
Hi Mark,
I too was trying to decide on an ODR control for my gas-fired boiler. Current control is ARGO ARM-2P. The Argo DPM-2 seemed tempting due to its plug-n-play capability. I re-thought getting one because the winter low temps where I live could 'possibly' cause my NON-mod/con boiler to operate below the condensing temperature of the fuel. I am going to install a Tekmar 256 as it has the ability to set the boiler water low temperature. There are tables available where you can easily calculate the low temp operating point of your boiler based on minimum outdoor temp, reset ratio, etc. Perhaps someone else on this forum can supply a link to this information. Great and generous folks reside here. Roland.....0
