I have installed recently a new oil fired boiler and indirect hot water storage - the system is 2 zones plus the indirect hot water storage - Baseboard in one zone (1 story house with 2 heating zones on the 1st floor)gets warm when the the natural room temperature is well above what the thermostat is set for. I have not had to use the heat yet this season yet the baseboard in the one zone is getting warm - the boiler does not go on except when needed for the domestic hot water (indirect hot water storage tank with coil on its own zone with circulator) - I recently changed both heating zone room thermostats but this made no difference - any thoughts on why this may be occurring

sounds like thermal migration. with pics of the near boiler piping, suggestions can be made for how to make changes in piping to fix this.

    Does this system

use 2 zone valves and just one circulator (pump) for the baseboards, or 2 separate circulators?

If the former, a ZV might not be closing properly.

If the latter, a flow-check might not be closing tightly.
