WILO EMU North American Headquarters Complete

TeamSouth Selected as Builder for One of World's Largest Pump Manufacturers

TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Oct. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Pump manufacturer WILO EMU
USA, in conjunction with construction partner TeamSouth, celebrated the
grand opening of their North American headquarters. Located in Thomasville,
Ga. this 60,000 square-foot facility on 10 acres will manufacture and
assemble heavy- duty municipal and industrial pumps and mixers.

Completed in 18 months, this project is ranked TeamSouth's largest
industrial achievement to date. They handled the project from site
    selection through to design build.

The facility offers office and training facilities, manufacturing bays,
testing, assembly and shipping areas. It houses 40 employees in 9,000
square feet containing state-of-the-art audio/visual capabilities, theatre,
cafeteria and training room with a thousand-gallon demonstration tank in
    the wall.

"It's truly an honor to know that when one of the world's largest pump
manufacturers needed a North American facility, they selected us as their
industrial builder of choice," said Shawn Roberts, Vice President, North
Division for TeamSouth. "This project allowed us to provide our expertise
in construction, overall design and site selection."

One of the most unique features to the WILO EMU facility is the
submersible technology in-house test pit. This integrated pit is 20 feet
deep, holds more than 60,000 gallons of water and contains custom fit
piping assemblies that measure pump performance.

Throughout the project, TeamSouth worked directly with the WILO EMU
headquarters in Germany for testing facility specifications. It was
imperative to ensure that conversions from Metrics to English measure were
done with precision. During the early stages of design, the construction
team traveled internationally, studying similar WILO plants to incorporate
the lines and features unique to their style.

"Working with TeamSouth on this new facility was a true pleasure. They
did exactly what they said, when they said and within budget," said Terry
Rouse, President and CEO for WILO EMU. "From initial concept to completion,
this building is exactly what we envisioned. It will clearly support the
rapidly growing demand for WILO pumps and mixers here in the U.S."

    About TeamSouth

    Puzzled?

    Why the blurb?

After looking at their website, it appears they are into nothing Wall readers would ever use or need, unless we do municipal sewage treatment or concrete slurry production stuff on top of the space shuttle.

Do they do anything in pumps/circulators under 100 GPM or heads under a thousand?

I suspect I missed something about relevance. Could you help?

Mark Hunt Wilo-Man! If he can't do it, no one can!

Now works for Wilo and is traveling the country side showing off the Brain Box. Give him a shout and he can enlighten you to "we just don't paint them green" world...

    Hi Ken - good question/comment.

There are currently three WILO companies in North America. WILO USA LLC based out of Chicago, WILO Canada Inc based out of Calgary (both are HVAC and Groundwater related, currently building HVAC pumps up to 1,400 USGPM and 800' and the groundwater division does up to 2,000 US and up to 2,000'). WILO Thomasville is the grey water/sewage division - builds mixers, grinders and sewage pumps with accessories.

    Appologies for the confusion.

I have a Wilo Stratas in my shop right now that we will be installing. it is the future of circulator pumps. This pump uses an ECM style motor as in variable speed 1 pump gives you the range from about taco 005 through 26-99. You can program it to do a kajillion things. lets say you have a 12 zone loop radiant manifold or a bunch of panel rads with heads on them. The pump will speed up or slow down automatically to match how many zones are open eliminating the need for a PDV.

If you like injection pumping imagine how much better you can do that with a pump that can actually speed up and slow down VS on or off. I never liked injection pumping as on smaller systems i didn't like the constant on off circ and the associated power consumption. A variable speed pump will make me rethink that position.

This dramatically reduces power consumption of the pumps a huge plus esp. for the houses with PV on the roof that are trying to minimize power usage in the HVAC system.

Yup they cost way more money compared to a regular pump but eliminate the cost of a PDV.

They also have traditional style circs as well.

Should inspire some local companies to come up with ECM of their own.

we will begin marketing them to our exsisting customers who have been concerned with their electrical consumption after more training next month. We'll plan on offering it as a performance upgrading during yearly maintenance calls.

    Hi Ken

The Wilo pumps for heating and cooling are made in Europe and sent to North America. Some are assembled and painted in North America. That would be in either the Calgary or the Chicago facilities.

The ground water pumps are manufactured at the southern facilities.

    Hope this helps.

    How about a cut sheet?

Got a website showing standard type pump curves in the sizes we might use typically?

    Pictures?

Given the market dominance of B&G, Taco, Armstrong, Grundfos, Teel, Laing, and so many more I cannot recall them all, I find it hard to believe (especially in light of the dollar vs. Euro exchange rate) that any Euro company would enter this particular market now.

They better have something really special, to make it.

I agree very tight market big uphill climb. but they do have what nobody else does. How about in the future a 2.5 watt pump on each manifold loop instead of a power head all with low voltage wiring. now that will be way cool.

Mark, my computer logged me in as somlbolly else

and i lost all my previous saved (bookmarked) threads...one of them was the addy on the east coast of a wholesale distributor with the small Wilo (about zone valve size) it is difficult to get three of these smaller circs so, is there any chance that you have a contact & phone number for the outlet?

    Thanks .

    Stratos

I have had the opportunity to install 2 Stratos units. Most painless installation EVER completed! Set up in 10 minutes flat! My customer has an identical comparative building without a Stratos. Power consumption for that building is 32% more - Another Stratos will be installed this summer.
    Thank You Steve and Company!
