The old steam plant is right in the heart of downtown next to Victory Field, the RCA Dome and the new Lucas Oil Stadium, new home of the Colts. The main chilled water plant is next door. There's also a 6,000 ton chiller plant on the north side of downtown and another one near the IUPUI campus that serves the campus and the hospitals. 40-50% of the steam comes from the garbage burner on the southside. Recently that plant operator was thinking of selling its steam to the electric utility instead leaving Citizens Thermal worried about how they will heat downtown. In the end, that didn't happen. Citizens Thermal is also involved with heating & cooling our new airport terminal via separate equipment.
