Hoffman 76A main vent
Reading The Lost Art of Steam Heating inspired me to get to know my heating system. The main vents are Hoffman 76A. I can't find anything about 76A. A plain 76 is for a vacuum system, which I don't have. Does anyone know anything about the 76A vent? I'm wondering whether my system is one of those that was "converted" from coal, and that the 76A is a NLA vent for coal systems. My system is a two pipe gas-feed steam.

What variety
of 2-pipe steam?
Besides the vents, have you found any manufacturers' names on the rad valves, traps and anything else that might be original?
The more we know about your system, the better the advice we can give.

Radiator valve brand is...
The Ideal Heating Equipment Co., Cleveland. I'll try to look at the traps later. They're not in good places to look at.0
