Very generous offer from Mr. White. I would take that in a minute but a bit of a drive from Seattle. Tim

    Company Meeting

Hi everyone, I need to hold a meeting about some recent problems and I can't find a place to hold it. Does anyone in the Rhode Island area know of a resturant or a hall that can seat a party of 16? I should also mention that this is a service only meeting, held by 3 senior techs. Which means we cant spend a ton of money. I apperciate anyone who takes the time to read this as we have been looking tiresly for a week now, and we are trying to save our company before time runs out. Thank You

Sorry I am not from your town. Somtimes though I have met with groups privately at a bank or credit union confrence room. Some attorneys have confrence rooms. Also the library or a local school may allow such a meeting. Good Luck

Depending on where in RI you are...

Pawtucket has the German American Cultural Society on Carter Ave (we just went to a dance there last night and they had notices up for rentals). Many restaurants (Olive Garden comes to mind) have banquet rooms that fit 15-20 people, large family gatherings, with ease.

RI in particular has plenty of Portuguese-American and Franco-American, Italo-American etc. clubs. East Providence in particular has several. Name your Hyphenated-American and by golly, there is a hall.

There is a church in Providence called "The Mediator" (how appropriate is that?) which may be worth a look.

VFW and K of C as Clammy mentioned.

Local Trade Union halls? If you are 'open shop', OK, not so much...

Keep in mind that restaurants and halls often have food and beverage costs, so tip the bartender and give the restaurant good business.

Yes, libraries but there can be restrictions on terms of use; civic organizations may be favored over business-specific. The worst case is that they say "no".

Glad you are recognizing the issues you are having getting this done. One cannot afford to lose a good business.

    Good Luck!

    Meetings

    `Henry,
You are more than welcome to use the Taco learning center space for your meeting at no charge. Give Nan Quinlan a call at Taco, she'll fix you up.
(By the way, Taco is in RI.)

    Wow.

A gracious and generous offer like that, from John White himself, is one I would take in a heartbeat. Nothing in RI is over 45 minutes away-

Thank you all, You have helped me think outside the obvious choices we kept coming up with. Mr. White thank you so much for your very generous offer. I'm going to call first thing tomorrow morning. Again I can't thank you all enough. As always the wall has been very helpful. Have a good day.

    Sincerely,

    Henry

    Great

    John White comes through again.

And just note for others who may need to have service meetings. Try hard not to do it in a place that serves alcohol, or at least make them abstain till the end of the meeting. These meetings can be loud enough with everyone sober.
  • Other ideas....

In our area, there are many McDonald's that have basement meeting rooms for rent at a very nominal fee ($25 FOR 3 hours) Also unless there is going to be a lot of hollering and name calling, many churches have a fellowship hall you can use for the cost of the janitor's fees. Many local parks have a meeting room that might be available. Just remember to keep it civil, low volume, and alcohol free during the meeting. Good luck!
  • You can use my training center which holds 25 people easily

just call me at 401-437-0557. The center is located in Warren, RI at 338 Metacom Ave. There is a watering hole right across the street for refreshment after. I can give you coffee and donuts. We can talk price on the phone when you call me.

    Appropriately

Your meeting is held today on All Saint's Day :)

    Kudos to John White.

Let us know how things turn out, Henry. I was also thinking if not just the technical aspects of running a business, might there also be a retired executive ("SCORE"), Ellen Rohr (Bare Bones Biz) or other practitioners who can assist in that or other areas.

I think it is fortunate that you see whatever issues your company is having and showing the courage to stand up, see it and lead the company through it.

    Good Luck!
