radiator valves

"Unique" valves. Ken's right, you won't be able to find replacements. I don't think they've been made since the 1920s.

Looks like the stem packing is leaking- you can tighten the nut if there's any thread left (do NOT force it) or re-pack it. If the valves won't turn, again don't force them. They will need to be taken apart, which requires draining the entire system- otherwise you'll have a flood. If you're not familiar with these operations, have a pro do it.

These valves were nickel-plated, and will look real sharp when the paint is removed.

    radiator valves

I am looking for replacement valves for old two-way chrome valves on 1920 American Radiators. These are hot water radiators with one valve connected to "horseshoe" pipes on one end (entry and return) in difference to the usual hot water radiator which has an opening in the radiator on both ends for entry and return. More photographs are available to help you if you email me.

    Please advise. Thank You!

I would put the odds of...

you finding exact replacements at 1:100+

I'd put the odds of you being able to rebuild what you have at 100% - even having them re-chromed.

Tommy Tunstall owns a company that specializes in this sort of older steam stuff. He may have replacements, but don't hold your breath. I suspect a Tunstall Steam Google search would provide the link I have lost...

    Let us know what happens.
