Siggy's BTU meter in PM mag

Just had a customer ask me today if there was any way to meter how much heat each tenant was going to use in a new 4-plex he is building. He said he felt fuel oil was going to be going to $5 per gallon soon, and he would like the ability to charge each tenant for their usage. Thanks to Siggy, and his recent article in PM magazine, I was able to say, "Why sure we can do that!" He didn't know I read the article just last night! I also told him there was a way we could meter the amount of energy used to heat their hot water too! He thought I was the greatest heating contractor he had ever met (and he was right!) Thanks to Siggy for making me look like a genius in front of my customer. Now, can you do the same with my wife?

Times change...

Rocky, 12 years ago I installed ISHTA Btu meters in a 7 story luxury condo high rise. The owner had me remove the sytem after a potential client balked at having the meters measure his heating and DHW use.

I think we'll be seeing this type of metering in many aprtment buildings. The largest issue was running the control wires.
