BEST THERMOSTAT

Can't use mercury stats anymore so digital is the way to go. Keep it simple. If you have outdoor reset a simple T87 round digital by Honeywell is all you need. With an old boiler, I wouldn't look at doing too much temperature setback as you would lose efficiency by setting back too far. 5 degrees max would be my recommendation. Again Honeywell makes a wide variety of stats and are your best bet for quality.

BEST THERMOSTAT FOR HOT WATER BOILER

I have an old boiler (70+ years) Just got her running right - thank you Brad. I would like to know what you guys prefer in the way of a thermostat for hot water heating. (mercury type, dry contacts, or digital) any why you prefer that type.

    Thanks
    John

I have installed a digital one and the temp goes 1/2 degree above the set point before turning off, and below 1/2 degree before turning on. I was just wondering if this swing wastes for fuel than a conventional round stat? Or is it such a little difference that it will not matter.
