BSPT British Standard Pipe Threads on Myson panel radiators

Brits X NPT do you need, I believe I may have access to a conversion fitting.

BSP British Standard Pipe Threads Myson panel radiators

Walked in on a job where as many as 10 of 22 threaded joints on 11 Myson panel radiators were leaking slowly. We removed all the radiator unions to find out they are straight thread BSP (no taper). Myson's instructions using supplied Loctite 565 apparently did not work for original contractor. We used Teflon tape and Blue Block (which has a 100% success rate with our NPT connections)with 6 of 22 leaks! We then tried 4 of the leaking joints with Loctite 565 on both male and female threads and waited 24 hours to cure before pressurizing the zone. That worked, but I'm open to suggestions. Myson has many good products but this one needs work.

    Loctite 545

Loctite 545 Thread Sealer works. It's purple, the consistency of thread locker. I have used it many times.

    Loctite 55 string

Steve Ebels just suggested loctite 55. It is a string product. I tried it on one stubborn joint, Loctite 545 and 565 just didn't seem to do the trick. So far, two days later, no leak.

BTW Andrew, it was on the Laing Heaters.

    Same problem

We had the same problem a while back. Wicking and blue block did the trick.

    55

I'm surprised. I never had a problem with the 545. Glad to hear you got it sealed!
