    Paying it forward a little

So I did a little talk to the cubscouts last night. Funny I had a lot of information and after I started talking realised " These kids don't want to here about Plumbing History".

They wanted to see the torch, Propress Tool, Ridgid visio Camara and the other tools. I will say they stood pretty quite and listened as I explained how to thread pipe and solder a joint.

Tim Malarky from Capco Energy Supply who is a friend and fellow scout Dad, supplied a roll of 1/2" Viega Fosta pex and had the great idea to have the boys make a hoola hoop by pressing a coupling.

Gary Paul from Salem Plumbing Supply gave me baseball hats and pens to give the kids ( allthought I think most of the hats went to the Dads ). Thanks Gary.

It was a fun night and hopefully the boys learned a little something.

    I did :)

Oh My Gosh, I almost forgot my two assistants wearing thier Milne P+H shirts, my sons Christopher and Andrew.

    Many times

when my two girls were in school the thought crossed my mind to bring a few things in and do a presentation but never got around to it (too busy!!).

You show the difference between thinking it and doing it, Scott. It will be a wonderful memory for you, your boys and those scouts-well done.

Let's hope others reading this thread will follow your decision and not my thinking. The years go by much too fast and we can never go back.

    Great job

The kids will remember that for sure. I've been bringing my 4 year old daughter with me to drain houses this year. Its amazing the questions she's been asking. She also worked on her grandparents boiler today. We have to show our kids this stuff we do. Whether they do what we do or not, they will have some knowledge to help them in the future.

    That's a beautiful thing...

I spent 7 years as Cubmaster for my kids' pack. We've made PEX-ula hoops, soldered fittings, cut and fit pipe, etc. Boys get kinda wild-eyed over power tools, no matter what age!

You're living the Cub Scout promise -- do your duty to God and your country, help other people and obey the law of the Pack. And always, always always -- do your best!

    Well done!

    JMB

Any former scounts out there remember the law of the Pack?
