Seen them too and don't like

the drain/purge assembly. Its got that square key in the hose cap that you have to futz around with, same as Roth. When your purging and your fingers are wet- its a real pain to hold the cap in place and spin to turn the valve open and closed for purging.

Worst yet is the hose threads. The bottom end of the threads are beveled at an approx 45 deg angle. Trying to hook up a WM hose for purging is a process - not to screw on, - to prevent leaks. The threads are very shallow. The hose washer doesn't seat properly on this sharp angle and there is a very high tendency to leak out of the threads. If you tighten too much, you collapse the washer right into the drain outlet and it leaks badly.

You can try a second hose washer and a bunch of teflon but sometimes that doesn't work. The quick turn red lever action valve that they had was infinitively better. It had a flat surface where the hose washer could seat properly and not leak, and it was easy to open and close the valve.

I showed this to one of their engineers and a product manager. I suggested providing a beveled washer, similar to the old rubber nose cone washer on a faucet supply. Maybe they are looking into this? Could that be the delay? If it is, I'll be happy to wait. If not, I'm seriously going to be looking at the Caleffi manifold due to come out in the spring. They supposedly will be able to handle the 5/16 pex also.

I'm a big fan of Viega, but in my opinion, this is a show stopper for me.
