Good looking job HotRod. I've been using the fostapex for a few years now and really like it. I did use it for a relief valve because I ran out of copper. The code guy did'nt notice it. Have you used a propress tool on the fostapex??

    A fairly simple job

small home 4 zones with ZVs located in crawl space.

Upper circ is for the indirect tank that is on it's way. I'll see how well a 50K drives an 80 gallon indirect i planed for their large tub.

I used short pieces of Viega FostaPex for the condensate drain and also a wiring condiut for the ZV wiring. I'll see how the inspector feels about a FostaPex relief valve line also. Keeping everything silver.

    Supplier doesn't stock them

they needed heat ASAP for the tile setter to start. This came from Kansas City overnight.

I gotta tell ya Hot Rod,....

I would just be honered to sit in on one of your installs. I do install Mod/Con's, but never these wall hung unit's. It would be very interesting to me.., alway's looking 4 another trick.

    Newbie Questions

Thanks for sharing. What is that above the Taco SR relay panel- an Azel digital temperature unit? Are you simply relying on an air vent for air removal? What size tubing going to the indirect? Other pic's?

    The Munchin controller

is velcroed above the Taco ZV box. I'll install a Caleffi Discal air purger in the line to the indirect tank which will go over the top of the Munchin. This will be the highest point in the system for air removal. I'll use 1" fostaPex for the indirect piping.

I actually "piped down" the Munchkin to 1" Couldn't see a reason for 1-1/4" pipe on a 5gpm 5K heater? :) Almost could have piped it all with 3/4"

  • Nice job HR,

but I thought the manufacturers of this type of ex. tank recommend not to install horizontally?
Edit-He must be so busy with his new toys we can`t be "anointed" with his presence!
