Thanks. Do you happen to know what Burnham wants for a SCG6N1-TS (high-efficiency boiler offered by Keyspan)? Would this info be available at the Burnham web site?

outdoor vent for boiler air intake?

I'm planning to have a new gas boiler installed. One installer told me that I want to have both air exhaust and intake from outside. Another told me that intake can be from the basement, and that outdoor intake does nothing for the efficiency of the boiler and would cost more (a few hundred dollars). Any advice on this would be appreciated!

outside air is better, especially if the manufacturer specifies it. Do what the manufacturer wants, not the contractor.

Info should be on website. Wait until morning when more guys are up and checking site. I'm sure more will chime in.

Just checked: it seems to depend on how tight my basement is re the outdoors, and whether it's dusty, etc....
