could you ever see a use in the GST? Mulroney said it would reduce our deficit, it has, but everyone HATED-IT, (of course UniR will oppose me LOL),any opinions?<BR><BR>Dave

    Hi Dave - the GST was brought in to Canada to replace a hidden manfacturing tax. The manufacturing tax was much higher (12% or more), but few people knew about it. The GST is going down to 5% and it is clearly visible, which means governments cannot raise it quietly without anyone noticing. No one likes taxes, but I prefer this type over the previous.

    I don't know if you have a hidden manufacturers tax in the US, or any other hidden federal taxes.

    Why, no, we have no taxes. Life is good here. We can just do what we want whenever we want. When I need to go out somewhere I just take what ever vehicle is closest. My kids only go to the best schools and they don't cost a thing because the teachers all work for free.

    Oh, sorry, I'm dreaming again.
