Put a little to much pressure trying to straighten a pipe out of the top of this Ultra. Had a backup. Watching the compression fittings below in the cabinet and...wham!! Luckily there was enough sticking out of the boiler to rethread. Wheeww!! The factory part might have taken days.

    poor quality control

wow, you musta leaned on that baby pretty good ,Tom , to snap the thread. brittle inferior pipe. probably could plumbed it with help of a torch but we should not have to go through such nonsense for the money we pay for a finished product. stuff like that can ruin your day.

    Chalked it up....

to another day on the job. In the words of the immortal Bullwinkle Moose, "I guess I didn't know my own strength". I filled and PT'ed that day but still couldn't fire waiting on gas supply and the sparky. I was worried, Weil McLain OEM parts flow a little slow around here. I remember sending a guy to Michigan City, Indiana to pick up a control board for an Ultra. Still love 'em though.

    Hey Tombig

You need a flash on that camera :)

Did you ever try to loosen the U-bolt and comp nut to straighten and then re-tighten ? It usually helps, even if it's not perfect.

We've gotten to the point where we swing joint back to the wall to straighten our finished product. Hate mounting too close to the wall for obvious reasons :)
