Sizing 2 pipe steam systems
Unknown
Member
Just the radiation, and the piping and pick-up factor that is built into the steam output ratings on most manufacturers literature (so that you don't need to add it in).
Unless it is an old 2-pipe air vent (or Paul System), there are likely metering devices (special valves; OR orifices) on the inlet to each radiator, and these limited the steam volume to LESS than the radiators could condense.
Size to the radiators.

Sizing 2 pipe steam systems
Does one take into account the return piping when there are no steam traps present . This is an old system where the return piping from each radiator drops into the condensate return located in basement . I'm trying to size this boiler properly . Any help would be appreciated.
