Caught a great show last night...

Got to see Chris Botti at the Bergen PAC. What a show! His opening act was a young singer named Chelsea Palermo, who did a great job on some jazz standards. She's very young, but is a promising jazz singer. Chris's band was incredible! The bass player is the bass player from "Saturday Night Live", and his keyboard/piano guy was fantastic. The drummer was unbelievable, and his guitar player was great. Chris plays the trumpet with a unique style, and is very "laid back" and you actually feel like you're in a jam session at someone's home, not in a theatre.

His take on the love theme from the movie "Cinema Paradiso" will haunt me forever. He featured a guest vocalist who goes by the name of "Cy" and her voice, Chris's trumpet and the guitar combined on "Good Morning Heartaches" in a magical way that I can not describe. There wasn't a dry eye anywhere!

Chris Botti and this band will be at the Blue Note in NYC from the end of this month thru Christmas. Hop on Acela, the LIRR or the car and make it an evening. This guy is AMAZING!
