Best Practice
says 15 inches or more back from the end of your main, install them after your last take-off (this is a soft point, idea is to get the air out ahead of the steam) and put the vents at least 6 inches above the main.
The very best advice I can give will cost you only $10 and will do a world of good. Go to the Online Store and look up the SKU#300 item, Gerry Gill and Steve Pajek's guide to balancing steam systems using vents. It comes in a PDF e-book e-mailed to you. Such a deal."If you do not know the answer, say, "I do not know the answer", and you will be correct!"
