Started with living in the past, and rocked from here. Fat man, loco breath, aqua, lots of old stuff. Great show, smaller venue so it was an intimate setting. He had the blk pants white shirt dark vest and skull cap. He danced, hopped, and tip toed all over. Said fat man was named when you could call a song anything, but now it renamed over-weight or obiese man...What a show. Really a gentleman. He played many string instrments, and his guitarist played flute on a few...WOW!!!

    In 1972...

Boston Garden, I saw Jethro Tull and pretty much gave up psychedelic drugs. I was sitting in Section "U" at the far end opposite the stage so brought binoculars.

A guy in front of me asked to borrow them and I agreed.

"Wow, Dude!", he said. "These are like, automatic!"

"What do you mean?", I asked.

"You look into them and they work!

Great concert though, Ian Anderson and Rock Flute.
"If you do not know the answer, say, "I do not know the answer", and you will be correct!"

    Ian Anderson

showed up at a Celtic music festival here in NY a couple years ago, QUITE unannounced. He jammed with a celtic rock band whose name eludes me at the moment. Seven Nations maybe?

Gotta' love a guy that can play the flute like that AND still find time to raise Atlantic salmon.

Unfortunately, I never got to see Tull.

Heavy Horses and Songs From the Wood are my fav Tull albums ESPECIALLY this time of year.

  • Wow,,,

I can't believe he's still touring, how old is he now? Seen him 3 times myself. Guess I'd go again, what the heck. ;)

Saw TSO last year, awesome I thought. The totally beautiful lead female vocalist was doing her big solo and during a pause some guy yells out, "I LOVE YOU!!" and the crowd went crazy. LOL...

    That is scary Mark!

Those are my 2 favs also! I still stay up on the latest releases also. MY most favourite band of all time.

Saw them 2 Saturdays ago, without a doubt the best and tighest performance yet! Ian is 60, and still played on one leg!

Hopefully they will play Aqualung, the flute version, it was to me, the highlight of the show.

    Martin Barre

Is one of the most under rated guitarist in Rock and Roll.

Never gets mentioned in a top ten list but I would put him at around 5.

Stand Up still makes me feel like I am getting ready for a Jr. High Dance :).

    Crest of a Knave

One of the all time Tull Albums, very underated, very rockin'. Saw Tull 2 years ago, unbelievable!

    Farm on the Freeway

Nine miles of two-strand topped with barbed wire
Laid by the father for the son.
Good shelter down there on the valley floor,
Down by where the sweet stream run.

Now they might give me compensation…
That's not what I'm chasing. I was a rich man before yesterday.
Now all I have got is a cheque and a pickup truck.
I left my farm on the freeway.

They're busy building airports on the south side…
Silicon chip factory on the east.
And the big road's pushing through along the valley floor.
Hot machine pouring six lanes at the very least.

They say they gave me compensation…
That's not what I'm chasing. I was a rich man before yesterday.
Now all I have left is a broken-down pickup truck.
Looks like my farm is a freeway.

They forgot they told us what this old land was for.
Grow two tons the acre, boy, between the stones.
This was no Southfork, it was no Ponderosa.
But it was the place that I called home.

They say they gave me compensation…
That's not what I'm chasing. I was a rich man before yesterday.
And what do I want with a million dollars and a pickup truck?
When I left my farm under the freeway.

Saw them around 78 or 79, the Burstin Out tour. 14th row in New Haven I think. I can still remember the chills running up my spine.

They are one of those bands with a different sound, very unique. For that they are and will one of the all time grreat bands.
  • Wow again!

I'm pretty sure I went to the same New Haven show myself! I was way in the back though...

Oh yeah, you were the one standing up, yelling and clapping over your head. I think you had on a black t-shirt that said something on the front. And I think you had jeans on. Or else that was the wasted guy next to you.
