measure for ohms across the sensor you should get a reading if it is good
And yes i have seen them go bad

I checked my ..260
tonight...the screen says the boiler sensor is open...it is all connected. Do they just go bad? ty,kpc

One thing, start with cleaning wire contacts at sensor and make sure there is no water inside sensor, we find that. Then tighten all down and recheck. Tim0 -
Make sure the sensor is disconnected from the 260 when you test..."Let me control you"

reset
Try actually turning off the power to the control, wait 15 secs and then power back up. This may let the control reset itself if the sensor is good.
Attached is the values you should see with your meter. If good, when you re-attached, you will need to power down the control as mentioned above to reset.
