to dress up you panel radiator installs?
I have a Dianorm Panel radiator that I am prepping for a home-show display. When installing for new construction, are you guys roughing in your supply/return lines thru the wall for a more inconspicuos look or is your 1st choice penetrating the floor and using the decorative escuscheon? (sp?)
Have you ever had a HO object to the looks of a properly installed panel radiator?
My take is relatively simple, do you want heat here or not?
If you don't want infloor, here are your choices....
Thanks for any input.

Panel Aesthetics...
Hi Paul-
My first choice is to conceal the piping entirely, which means "rear connections" which Runtal can do, or at the very least, bottom or side connections then quickly elbow into the wall.
Yes, I use escutcheon plates, one-piece, and only metal pipe protruding. (I may have PAP in concealed locations).
The other thing I do where there is no choice but to have the piping exposed is to use chrome plated brass with compression fittings. Victorian baths with exposed plumbing can allow you to get away with this, even if the panel rad is a tad anachronistic."If you do not know the answer, say, "I do not know the answer", and you will be correct!"

Doing my first panel rad install
I have a tough time selling that "look' here in SW Missouri. I spec them, show them, explain the benefits, still no go.
On my current job some feed up from the basement below through the floor.
On the upper level I used the wall feed method.
It sure is tough protecting the wall penetrations through sheetrock, and base trim install. I'm not looking forward to the connections! I used copper stub out ells from Sioux Chief with the pex barbs.
I think the center feed panel rads look the best. It gives the appearence that the tubes are there to support the radiator.
Congrats on the RPA awards by the way.

thru floor
I have been going thru the floor. I am afraid of the pipes freezing if I go thru the wall. It looks better using the wall but I guess it makes me nervous enough to use the floor.0 -
Dianorm
Does anyone have a way or product offering (escutcheon) to accomodate for the closely spaced supply and return piping coming from below on the Dianorm rads?
We either use the PVC clam shell boot that they offer. Which I have yet to have a homeowner like. Our only remaining options are a chrome esc. that we snip off OR make our own boot out of the floor covering (bamboo, oak).
BTW - Why do we all get so much resistance when we show panel radiators? Personally I like the aesthetics.0 -
Escutcheons and cover tubes
Chris Rorke from Blueline Supply in Jackson Hole, WY. sells the plastic dual escutcheons and PVC split cover tubes for panel rads. These come with the Buderus panel rads, but not the Dianorm.
