Gas boiler problem

simply that the pilot needs cleaned. The change from standing pilot to intermittent should not have required any change of orifice size on the pilot. That is as long as the existing pilot was simply converted from a thermocouple to spark igniton retrofit.

Get a reputable gas service technician to come and service the unit and he or she should be able to solve the problem. A dirty pilot (yellow) will carbon up a small amount in and around the pilot. If you are having carboning greater than that then you have combustion problems and as Robert O'Brien posted get a combustion analysis done on the equipment. That should be done annually anyway.
