is to look in the Quantum installation manual and see which proposal conforms to the piping diagrams and instructions therein. If you don't have yours, download it from http://www.dunkirk.com/ .

is the added expense of primary secondary worth it?
I have a 7 y.o. dunkirk quantum boiler, and it has never heated my home properly, or my hot water for that matter (phaze 3 indirect).
I have had several opinions from plumbing/heating guys and every one is different, but all but one quote says i should just install a sprial vent and i should be fine.
The dissenting contractor says that 1 taco 007 is not enough for 4 zones, and that i should be using 1 circulator for each zone, not zone valves. He also says it is important to use a method called primary secondary piping as it will save me money and add life to my boiler.
The Problem : The contractor who (to me) makes the most sense wants close to $5000.00 to make the repairs - says the whole job was piped very, very wrong. I dont want to spend 5000.00 on a boiler i already spent 8900.00 to have installed 7 years ago.
The other guys all have the same opinions as each other and say they can fix my problems for under $1000.00, but do not seem as competent as the expensive guy who is very sure that a spiral vent will not solve my issues. He says i do not have air problems. He says my problems started the last time I tried to save money (with a laugh!)
I am confident that the expensive guy knows his stuff, but I am worried that maybe he is going overboard on me.
any thoughts would be very helpful.Thanks.

Any jpegs . of the near boiler piping?
We have some individuals here who enjoy the challenge as it were . We sometimes group think it when it is truly a top notch botch. It is like doing a chess puzzle or extra large crossword puzzle .*~/:)0 -
I just gave a bid to a guy who said the same thing..."why are you charging me this when I just had a boiler put in for that? I asked him with a chuckle " and how did that guy's job work out for you?" It was a really, really bad install. maybe with some pictures of the boiler & piping, we could ensure the new guy is right...
