    Heat's on.

It is about 44° outside and 66° inside. At 10:30 PM I hit the switch, I turned the heat on for the first time this season.

I know, I know, you think I wimped out, I wasn't tough, I couldn't hang. But I want to feel the radiant heat under my feet when I get up to take a leak. I want to feel the radiant warmth from my radiant baseboard.

I tell myself I deserve it. I work hard all week, who wants to come home to a cold castle?

And a warm castle is something both You and Sue deserve.

The heat’s been on and off here in Ulster Park, NY for the past week. 80’s during the day 40’s during the night.

  • Who can hold out the longest........

no heat here - yet(G). Still using an outdoor shower - brr.
  • I turned mine on in NH, too, Bill

I'm in a new (old) house with a neglected steam system. I just like hearing the cantankerous old system clanging and whizzing and clinking away, while I make my list of things I need to go get this morning at FW Webb, or the Granite Group.

I haven't shopped in a supply house in years. I hope they'll have me....

Just turned our soon to be replaced with a mod/con system on also. Of course, have some insulation put in this past tuesday (foam) on the parts that are being done over helps out.

    38°

It was 38° this morning, the floors felt nice and warm, but I didn't enjoy hearing the burner start and cycle @ $3 pr gallon. I am going down to turn it off, it's supposed get back up to 60° outside today.

  • Thanks!

I'll check them out. Out of 7 #1 radiator vents that I bought, 6 of them pass air and one acts like a pipe plug.

Isn't that the way things seem to go these days....

    mine on last night too

But I thought I should since my 94 y o mom looked a little chilly 35 degrees when I was out on a call at 2 this morning and a little frost on windshields in a neighboring town when I was out at 6 A on another call. Ruthe

My ac units ran full steam again today as temps reached 91. With 2 40MBTUH furnaces for 3900 sq ft, bet you can guess where I live
  • holding out ?

She said its cold in here .......
    I said lets snuggle........
She got out of bed and returned with an electric blanket.
As she plugged in that wattage sucking device,
She said and I quote " If you dont want to turn the boiler on , no problem , now you can go watch your electric meter spin at the speed of light" !

Not yet, but I did give it a quick test just to make sure it would work. The stat is set in heat at 60. And just so you guys know, my wife would happy if I set it for 58. We've always kept the house cold, figure germs can't breed if they're frozen.

    Heats on today

Kinda chilly in early AM today, outside temp low was 39*. And Monday night I had the a/c on in the bedrooms - mid/upper 80's and ultra high humidity. Temp dropped to 77* in the house with that sticky humidity. Now tonight the heat is on.

Paid $2.499/gallon on Thursday oil delivery for 246 gallons. Just over $630. And it's supposed to go higher.

    well, hmmmm...

i am having some degree of consternation with a home owner builder at present, i have some btu's circulating however he wont put the wiring into the lid and close it up , insulate, seal, have vapor retarder, and inspection done....so, as last week i finally got him to at least hang some visquine over the window openings and doors and garage door.........

on his home built by the river.....

i suspect the 0 “F would be just about where id draw the line in the snow. and that was this week Monday at 5 a.m. *~/:)

my own home? well, when it sounds like its going colder i am going warmer :) if i could i probably want my home Ah Sa Na in -60. *~/:)
