Utica boiler UB95M any feedback?

Went to a seminar on them, thought it was very well designed, uses the MCBA logic board like Weil and Burnham. Low head loss so you can pipe right through it.
My only concern - its made of aluminum. Aluminum will corrode with the condensate and cake up. I have real concerns about the condition of these boilers 5 years from now when they are installed in active condensing situations.
I know they say to service and clean them but I can't help but think the majority of these installs are not cleaned/serviced on a regular basis.
My choice would be the Prestige from Triangle Tube. Its a 439 SS exchanger, uses the MCBA logic board like the Weil, Burnham, and Dunkirk, has a vertical self cleaning heat exchanger, and a very low head loss. Take a look at one these. Incredibly simplistic looking on the inside too. You wonder - how can this thing work so well.

Utica boiler UB95M any feedback?
I'm looking for a few good choices on condensing boilers. Right now I install Buderus GB142's. I really like these units but don't want to be close minded and it would be nice to offer a free standing unit that can be piped directly to primary loop. Anyone have good or bad to say about the UB95? Any other suggestions?0 -
I've
never installed one but have serviced a few, very nice and easy to work on

I have installed three
And every one was a piece of cake. Mechanically, it is an extremely well built boiler. The 1 piece cast aluminum heat exchanger is guaranteed for 15 years, and Utica/Dunkirk stands behind their products with great service and warrantee. I have been dealing with them for more than 20 years. Aluminum will absorb heat a lot quicker than cast iorn or stainless steel, and I trust a 1 piece cast aluminum heat exchanger more than I trust a multi-piece gasketed heat exchanger. They don't have a problem with the condensate because it all drains into a pvc trap and to the condensate trap. Won't condensate rot stainless if it is left standing in the boiler, another manufacturer had a problem with that didn't they? Utica has been using aluminum for more than 15 years on their 90% condensing boilers and the Buderus guy told me they have been using an aluminum heat exchanger for more than 25 years. Both manufacturers said you absolutely have to use the proper anti freeze if you need to add anto freeze to your system. Utica/Dunkirk give a 5 year parts and labor guarantee on their boilers 100%. The UB95M-200 is made right here in the USA, even the heat exchanger! Thanks, Bob Gagnon

I am with Bob
I installed one of the 95M, and several fixed inoput units under the Olsen name here in Canada.
Excellent product, 0 problems. The 95M on low fire was so quiet I had to look at the flame through the viewer to see it was running. High fire was barelky audible.
Easy install, well made, good support.
