I was told that you did not need plates with the "heater hose" beccause of the contact with the floor. I think that Hot Rod had some pics of the onix he tested with paint to show the contact. I have never used the stuff. I would like to see in a few years how well it holds up.

is onix tubing better than pex tubing with the heat tran fer plates?this is for a staple up to a wood sub floor,..love to hear your opinion0 -
Can't use Onyx and plates...
at least not the extruded plates. Won't fit. Been there, tried that, have the scars to prove it...

pex in aluminum
transfer plates will move the heat to the space mre efficiently and more evenly. Ususlly at lower supply temperatures also. Watts Radiant sells the nice extruded plates to use with their pex or Pex-AL.
Have you ever used a rubber or EPDM frying pan?
