Does anyone know how to test new style beckett or carlin ignitors... or even the new style motors? I have had many problems with the ignitors and with the motors but really have no way of surely testing them. Any recondations would be great.

Go to Carlin's web site http://www.carlincombustion.com/
They have a tech article there that spells out the test procedure. I believe you have to register on the website to get to it.0 -
the transformers
are similar to the old Alanson ones. between the 2 springs, you should not exceed 2000 Ohms. They are also center tap transformers. Measure Ohms from each spring to ground, they should be within 10% of each other.
As for the motor. the Beckett motor winding is about 3-4 Ohms.
Remove it and connect your meter and then rotate the squirrel cage while trying to pull/push the motor shaft in and out. The reading should stay 3-4 ohms. If it jumps to 7-8, the cetrifugal switch is defective and it needs to be replaced.
There ends my knowledge. I do not have any Carlins in my area (that I have found)0
