hot water zone off of a steam boiler
We installed a burnham v83 steamer inplace of a peerless jot 3 section, that had a pressurized coil for the upstairs of a cape cod with baseboard and 4 rooms .
We ran a zone off the bottom of the boiler in place of this. It came back with not enought heat---- Here's how we piped it----came off the bottom of the front of the boiler with a taco 007 then a inch flow valve then the feeder teed in then 3/4 pipe for the supply, so when the boiler feeds it has to purge the zone also.
on the return we first had purge set-up in 3/4 then a inch flow valve into the inch tapping just below the water line---note it was very hard to purge it.
what's wrong--------KN0 -

When you say upstairs , do you mean the 2nd floor ? There is a finite height you can go , piping it off the bottom . Does anyone know this height ?
We always try to use the coil and pressurize the zone when it's higher than the boiler itself . Too many headaches from going off the bottom .0 -

That's the one. Did you write that up? Good job if you did. Thanks, Bob Gagnon

When using a coil for a BB zone what are your limitations? I've never seen a zone piped out of a coil before. Do you need a particular type of coil or is it a regular domestic coil?0
