here it is
This took about 2 days and we did not go without DHW overnight. Had to move the tank to the left a foot or so for enough room to fit the venting. This is the first Knight that I've seen running and I am impressed with how quiet it is. The pumps are louder than the boiler and the pumps are quiet too!
Please point out anything that looks questionable, but it does seem to be running fine.

Mighty fine
better then some pros!
One thing I found helps is to elevate the boiler about 20- 30". Much easier to adjust, clean and service. Not a deal breaker by any means. Nice piping work.

Thanks
I wanted to put it up a little, but when things started happening, the stand did not. Pete has been doing pipe work for a lot of years and does mainly commercial. Tom did the 120v wiring and I wired the zones. To be clear, this was done by a professional, licensed fitter. If I did it, it would have taken a week and definitely not looked like this!

DHW
I'm curious about exhaust stack temps that are typically seen with a call for dhw.
If anyone could share some experience with mod cons and pvc vents I'd appreciate it.

Nice install Larry
You must be very pleased at how nice the job turned out.0 -
Congrats! You finally made the move after a lot of planning.
Looks great - hope to hear your thoughts after you go through a heating season.0 -
Flue Temps
Larry,
Typically the flue temperatures will track the supply temperature within a few degrees. Well within the parameters for PCV. Should the flue temperature start to approach a preset temperature the control will modulate the boiler firing down to preclude overheating.0 -
White Knight from OSHA
A couple of questions Larry. Now that you are a contractor, what are your OSHA record-ables? Did everyone on the job have their PPG? Did you have MSDS sheets for the flux, dope, primer and cement?
Actually Larry I'm very glad people like you and your organization exist. OSHA's rules and training have saved my butt more than once.
Good luck with your new system it looks like you are off to a good start. bob0 -
bust my chops
Thanks Bob. My subs have been to the 10 hour OSHA class and have all the PPE and MSDS for the stuff that they are exposed to. And have been trained on the hazards too. As far as my recordables, our work comp rate is as low as is possible. We want to put our money into profit sharing and new equipment.
But seriously, the challenges that contractors face is monumental, and I really appreciate your kind words. We don't exactly make someones day when we show up on site, but if we point out one thing that prevents an injury, we've done good.
The pipefitters that I've seen know what's going to hurt them, but it would be really cool if everyone using a torch would use hearing protection. It's not that loud, but loud enough to cause hearing loss down the road. And about looking up without safety glasses...ever get some crap drop into your eyes? Easy enough to prevent.
I will step off of my soap box now.
Thanks again, and yes I'm looking forward to having fun with this new toy - I mean heating system!
