Spiral radiator

I recently went on a call and discovered these spiral radiators. The best way to describe them is to imagine a piece of metal about 2' wide and 10' long then roll it up like a sleeping bag. The supply in the inner part and the return on the outer. If anyone has seen or worked with these before I would like to know the pressure loss through them.

interesting
wow, those are unique! just a guess here, but i'll bet the pressure drop would be similar to a panel type rad, as it looks like one rolled up!0 -
Mike, have you
been able to find a name on them? They look like very early convectors. Once we have a name we can search for info on them.

Hi all,
I ran across your site in search of boiler/radiator information, and saw this pix of that ho-ho on it's side radiator. I too have these and the boiler that goes with it. I think they are pretty coolk and the guy at the gas company said for it's age it's running great!
The only words on any of it is on the boiler and the words are "spiral boiler" and "clinker door"These both are on doors. The spiral boiler is on two doors above the clinker and they are cemented shut. The clinker door however is still accessable. My house was built in 1923 and the boiler and pipes have asbestos on them. It had been converted/updated throught the years like an "Aquastat" thingy Honeywell made in Minneapolis, and the thing that you light it by and that's in the front on the bottom and has the name roberts something on it. also someone put a backflow device on it as well.
I'd LOVE to know more about this dinosaur can anyone help?0 -

Your description of the boiler is very interesting, is there any way you could post a few pics of this beast?

Yes, we need pics
also, where are you located? It's possible that these things were only sold in a certain region.
