banging pipe..steam

there's a master trap on the inlet to the condensate return tank. This can cause banging. Take the guts out of the trap and see if that helps.

I'll bet that return tank ans pump is not really needed.

    Cust complains that one pipe near the boiler is making a "metal to metal banging in a rythem, like tapping". It is a 2-pipe system. Should I start with slopes of the rad returns that are closest to the banging? Maybe a trap? I do a lot of HW but not much steam. Banging is isolated to one small area.
