Is the furnase 90% or standard 80%? The 90%furnase are piped out in 2 pipe pvc, were the 80% is piped out in a single double pipe chimey. So if you have a 2 pipe 90% you have to follow manufactures spec. on pipe being vented through roof.

    Intake and exhaust pipes going through the roof! Is it acceptable to install a metal chimney enclosure around these pipes? I cut a 4 inch hole in the chimney and piped the vent to it. This is a new home and never has run a heating season yet. However the furnace seems to be short cycling. Does the furnace have carbon deoxide sensors in it and maybe detecting this and short cycling?

    gas check

    Did you have a gas company come in and do a gas check on the system? The system does not, to my knowledge have any type of carbon monoxide detector in it. It does detect flame and if the gas pressure's are not set properly or the unit is not set up properly it will run poorly (cycling on flame failure). I would get it checked over before the cold set's it.
