Mr. Pex

That's good to hear, because it was a major problem. Many times I could easily push the tube into Thermofin with one finger. Sure made a few jobs real headaches after the fact.

I've been using Mr. Pex a lot this year and am impressed by the product, especially the pipe.Is anyone else using it and what are your thoughts on the subject.

    Thanks

    aka Tomas Lenman

It's good stuff. Had a little trouble with it being oval from coiling toward the center of the roll. That was only an issue when snapping it into extruded aluminum plates. From what I could tell, the oval would return to a circular pipe with time.

Otherwise it's good Pex-a at a good price from one of the originators of pex tubing. I'm not quite as sure about the Safelink manifolds. Too many O-rings just waiting to leak, particularly with glycol.

    Oval

I've laid around 25,000'so far with no evidence of the pipe being out of shape. If there was a problem I think they may have addressed them.Heatlink had the same problem a couple of years ago.
As far as the o-rings are concerned don't most manufactures use o-rings in their manifolds? Does the type of glycol make a difference?

    Thanks

    Marketing

I'v got to say the name makes me think of a cheep liqueur brand. For what it cost to set up a pipe plant they should probably consider some professional branding help. Is all pex created equal? , Is electron beam pex better than engel method ?, is one processes environmentally friendlier than others? Do you get what you pay for? or is pex just pex?
Personally I like the idea of a particle accelerator being involved, just cause it sound cool, but I'm a slave to marketing.

    oval

It was only ovalled a few thousandths of an inch, but that makes a difference with plates.

  • that problem was fixed, as far as I know.

  • Seriously. we use Mr. Pex, but I wince every time we say the name.

    mr pex and plates

As I remember, they added a layer of PE on the outside of the tube to reduce the "stickiness" of the EVOH barrier? I dont know if the ovalling has been addressed. There were times that the pex would literally fall out of the plates, a problem that never occurred with other pex.

  • Yes, and that addressed the ovalling too I believe.. we've never seen a case of fall out.
