I tried it

Wanted to see how bad one looked inside after 20 years on well water, practically no heat exchange taking place, and wanting to salvage the coil; went about 5 inches with the metal grinder and wore out one blade. Gave up.

I have one in place , there is a ring on cement in the bottom around the side wall. I was taken aback by how heavy this tank was. mine is 80 US gallon. solar tank
