Collectors
Are those uninsulated swimming pool solar collectors?
I have no experience with this system, but the main issue I see with this design is that the tank is presumably kept at a minimum of 120°F by electricity/gas, which greatly reduces your storage capacity when compared to a pre-heat system where the tank can drop to the incoming water temperature. This decreases the storage capacity of the solar system by approximately 50%. It also decreases the time the solar system will run based on the temperature differential between the tank and the collectors. The ROI would be far better if a second electric hot water heater was added for pre-heat, and if insulated collectors were used in cold climates.
The integrated controller and drainback tank are a nice product.0
