Movie Recommendation

Ambiguous message at the end.

The computer only wins if "You [will] come to love me", to which inventor replies, "Never."

Hadn't seen in years till I bought the DVD. (Too bad it's not available in wide-screen.)

While the 1970 computer technology is terribly archaic, the underlying theme is still very relevant.

    Some great lines:

[President of U.S. refusing a demand by the "merged" U.S./Soviet super-computers]:

    "The next step is diefication."

U.S. inventor to the super-computer he created that has now demanded his virtual imprisonment.

INV: "I need privacy to maintain my sanity."

    COMP: "What kind of privacy?"

INV: "Elimination of my bodily waste."

    COMP: "NO"

    .

    .

    .

INV: "Intimacy. Check your historical records of literature and art."

    COMP: "Yes, how often?"

    INV: "Every night."

COMP: "Not what you want. How often do you NEED?"
  • Computers

If I remember correctly, at the end the computers win and take over.

Somehow, that is reminiscent of me in my office this week, when I had a computer problem. The darn thing took over my life and as I was yelling at my computer, I was calling it a piece of bodily waste.

    Some things never change.

I have noticed the "Infailability" of computers in the legal arena, such a shame and so easy to fake...It is not a good thing what is happening to society, all to often our social persuits have switched from community to solitary endevors, at what cost to society? Computers only add to this isolation and the costs to our society have yet to fully play out...
