I'm running the Parallels software
it allows me to have two OS running at once. No need to reboot to cross from mac to Windoze. Now I can get some work done while watching the wall

In that Windows window
Which hvac-looking software are you running? I've been running Mac's for years now, but want to add windows so I can run software that looks like what you're using.

Hey HR,
how's performance when you're running both OS's? I remember Virtual PC, which was a colossal waste of time IMHO, as everything in it ran so slow and crappy it wasn't worth it.0 -
Bravo! HR
It was great to see your image of HydroniCAD in one window and the web running under Apple Safari web browser.
Here's a new trick to try: Any time you want to grab a screen image just command + shift+4 and you'll see a little crosshairs cursor. Drag it over any area of the screen you want to capture. It will put a bit map file of this screen area on your desktop. Then you can just drag it into an e-mail or attach it to a posting on the wall like any other file. No need to use the digital camera.

I'm very happy with
the speed, Rob. It shuffles quickly between programs. I still need to learn some tricks for moving CADs, etc between the two programs, as Siggy mentioned.
If you have an Apple and want to run Windows programs the Parallels program is the way to go. Apple also has a free beta "Bootcamp" for running Windows, but you have to reboot to move between the mac and windows. not as quick or user friendly.
My local Apple store invited me to bring in any programs to try on Parallels before I purchased it. Better to experiment on their equipment.
So far I have all of Siggys programs running Heat Load Pro, and the HydroniCAD that you see above. I also have the Watts Radiant Radiant Works loaded. I'll add my Flir viewer and the HOBO data logger program yet for a nice clean running "hydronic computer system"
Working online is so much nicer with the Mac. I also loaded the .mac account and can talk and see the other person on my screen. I chatted with Max yesterday this way.
i-tunes is great for downloading songs and burning CDs. Amazing times we live in

I've been shopping too
What model did you get?0 -
Learning Curve?
I would like to know about the learning curve? How much of a paradigm shift are we talking about?
My laptop self-destructed 8 months ago and I am considering a Mac, but ALL of my software is PC based. Am I so ignorant that I dont know that I don't know? (You are making the transition sound inconsequential.)
