Stay out of trouble. Get a new unit with a manufacturer that is responsible enough to provide clear installation instructions for two reasons:
1) In my area, this is what the inspector wants to see before he OK's your work.
2) If your installation does not exactly match what the instructions call out, you can (will?) be held responsible for anything that happens after you leave (unit not working properly, property damage, bodily harm.......); you get my drift?

direct vent or not
installing a 90 rj natural gas furnace it is not a sealed combustion unit.....however it has the option of taking outside air manf instructions are ambigiuous at best..my question is do i follow direct vent clearences or mechanical draft clearences...thanks0
