SPARCO leaking!

Hi guys,
I came across a job this week where we need to repair or replace (2) SPARCO PV125S air eliminators. I found them with both caps locked down tight as they had leaked for a long time and rusted the boiler jacket. 1) I am assuming there's dirt at hr seals of both, is there a quick repair? 2) or do they have to be replaced as they are known to be "leakers"?
Thanks in advance, Adam

Repair Kits
There are rebuild kits available. Part #PV001RP
The top of the unit unscrews. You do have to drain the system and hopefully the top of the unit is not completely frozen. I hardly dare to leave them open when unattended for fear they will fail and drain the system. It is a common occurrence. Hopefully there is not much air being removed once the system has been in operation for very long anyway.
In my opinion, Caleffi Discal air eliminators are built much better.0 -
There was a problem...
several years ago with the old Sparco-branded Powervents. There was a repair kit available, and the new Honeywell Supervents have been redesigned to eliminate that issue. Can you get me a date code?0 -
!
Hi Bill,
Thanks for chiming in. Where would the date codes be?

4 digit number
Stamped on the body of the unit. If it's that old, chances are it won't be visible, but the unit says "Sparco", correct? I will be out of the office today, but you can call 1-800-468-1502. If they can't give you an answer, drop me an email, and I will push it further up the ladder.0 -
A permanent fix
is to solder that cap on and thread an 1/8" vent into the topLeak proofed and easily serviced.
