    flushing same as cleaning?

question, our contract covers "flushing the H2O" on our one pipe steam boiler. Should this get rid of the all the dirt etc. in the boiler and gauge glass? Or is getting rid of that dirt considered a "clean-out" job? Your thoughts on this.

Every business is different. You will get the best information from the company that issued the agreement. Ask them to spell out how they define it.

    Hrad to say for sure

but if it said skimming it would be better defined, but flushing could mean flushing the LWCO until the water cleans up a bit.

    flushing

most of the places i have work for doing service never included a water side cleaning as part of oridinary flushing which usually means flushing the lwco and or dis assembling and cleaning it and blowing out the pressuretrol and gauge glass assemble nipples ,to my self i believe every 2 to 3 years(depending on size and condition of the piping and system) a steam boiler should be flushed out and it's water passes brushed and flushed out to remove accumalated mud and rust .I am a personal believer in this and feel that after the inside of the boiler is coated in mud the amount and quality of the steam is compromised aside from it taking longer in some cases for the boiler to produce steam amd last but not least if you don't ever do a water side clean mud can and will block water passes and the possiblablity of a section cracking from dry firing even though the lwco dectects water is a possibablity .Peace and good luck clammy
