  • Solar project a no-go as I have no suitable place for the collectors. Was hoping to use adjacent University that will be unused as long as my house exists. Approved through every level until the University attorney who gave the knee-jerk "liability" response.

I'll wait another year or two and then try to arrange some sort of leasing agreement where I can provide the liability insurance.

    Solar Options

    Mike
I have found that solar can go just about anywhere, when a customer really wants it.

I have 3 home with the panels maounted this way. I live in a colorado ski town and snow is a big issue(24" over a few days). When the panels are mounted on the wall and at a steep angle snow is no longer a problem. I have also found that mounting them steep, we are aiming for the winter sun. Here in colorado we have plenty of summer sun its the winter sun thats harder to use.

Paul the fast fill by pass around the back flow/auto fill is for purging air out of the system. I have found with the Vitodens using the return drain and the purge drain on top of the unit works great. The fast fill does help but I find it more helpfull getting the air out of the distribution system.

Thanks ..I was just looking for confirmation. Paul

  • I looked and looked and looked and observed the sun falling on my house for years. Truly no suitable place to mount panel(s) for reasonable year-round collection.

I was going to build a small pedestrian shelter and mount panels on the flat roof. I have a very large lot, but no place to build such on my land. I'm on a major walking route to the University and everyone--except the lawyer--really liked the idea.

  • Untouched--still strapped to the side of the (rarely used) van. I'm trying to find someone to sandblast as I'd really like it to have a perfect surface. Nearest monument works is 30 miles away and they stopped "contract" sandblasting a few years ago.n Can't get any of the larger painting companies to call me back.

  • BTW Dave: THANKS for the copies of "Ideal Fitter"!!! I've got a nice book or two to send you in return.
