Sitting here looking at the Keyspan brochure they give a choice of 3 Burnham models for gas fired steam.

    PIN4SNC-ME4 - natural draft & standing pilot
    IN4PVNI-M2 - power vent & electronic ignition
    QPIN4SNI-HE2 - natural draft & electronic ignition

The first is $499, the other two are $799. We have a chimney but can also do a wall exit. Is it worth $300 for electronic ignition and 2% greater efficiency?

Also, there are 235 sq ft EDR here, and the brochure lists the boiler ratings in sq ft steam. Do I need to figure in a pickup factor here or is it done for me?

For example, the listed 271 sq ft boiler has an input of 105,000 BTUH. 80% efficiency makes that 84,000 output, which perfectly matches my 235 ft with a 1.5 pickup factor. Do I have my math and terms right?

    thanks,
    jim

is already figured into the NET or EDR ratings. No need to add to it.

I'd go with the electric ignition, you'll never have to worry about the pilot going out. Plus if cuts off the gas much more quickly in case of flame failure.

Sounds like Keyspan is still giving boilers away.....

Go with the EI and natural draft. I just installed one in my home and I couldn't be happier. You won't need the power vent if you have access to a flue.
