heating finished basement

Please describe how the rest of the house is heated so that people here can provide some meaningful suggestions.

Forced air, hot water, steam, and what kind of fuel / heat source you are using (Solar, wood, coal, oil, gas).

buying a simple dehumidifier (like you can buy for several hundred dollars) in the basement should stop any mold activity. I run one in my basement all summer long. Winter it runs intermittently (normally when I am doing laundry)

    heat in finished basement

we live on long island we have a finished basement with no heat. there are no vents, or anything down there ( i think that's why we are starting to see mold). we currently heat our home with oil. what are our options for heating. we will be using the area frequently.
  • It depends

Depending on the size, exposure and amount of space required to heat varies the answers.
Perhaps 1-2 dehumidifiers with the heat they generate along with a small electric heater is enough?
