Where to purchase cast iron radiators in NJ

I would suggest looking on eBay. There are usually quite a few to choose from and often they are for sale in New Jersey. Of course they are used but there are many styles put up for sale and the prices aren't too bad if your patient. After you log into eBay do a search for Steam Radiators. You can also try Antique or Cast Iron Radiators. Good luck!

    Hello Guys
Long time since I have posted but I have a question. I am looking to get two column type radiators to install in a house. Anyone know someone local to get some good used ones?

    Thanks

What part of NJ are you located in? I know of a place in PA not far from lambertville/ new hope that has an entire yard full, possibly 75 to 100 of all different sizes and styles. If interested, e mail me at threeleeshi@msn.com

The name of the scrap yard

is A&B Scrap. I have brought from them in the past. If they don't have what you want, try the phone book for other scrap/junk yards in the area.

My company has been in Paterson for over 85 years. There are a lot of steam systems in this town. If I may,a few suggestions:

If you buy used radiators, ask if they will allow you to remove the old valve spud before you buy them. This confirms that the spud will actually come out without damaging the radiator and allows you to do at least a partial inspection of the interior. Also, do you need a 1 pipe or 2 pipe radiator? Sometimes the plug does not come out.

If the project will handle the cost, you can have the radiators sandblasted and repainted by an auto shop. They come out magnificient. If not, a good wire brushing and high temp. paint does a decient job. NOTE*** Sometime in the past, Dan H. put out an article about the effectiveness of different paints and colors. It was realy interesting (in our "steam nut" type of way).

    Good luck with the project
