While it may provide some insulation value, it is simply not the right stuff to use. Replace it with fiberglass pipe insulation, the thicker the better 2" is best.

    wrapping mains

    The mains of my steam system are currently wrapped in unfaced fiberglass. What is a suitable material I can cover this with?
