    Need help with Oil/Steam system

I live in Langhorne PA (Bucks county). We have an older (20+) Weil Mcclain boiler with a Becket oil burner. We're in a 2 story colonial with 13 one-pipe steam radiators. We've been having some issues and would like to find a reliable/knowledgeable contractor in the area to help. While I do not have the plumbing skills/equipment, etc. I sometimes feel I know more about the system than some who have matinained our system. If you can recommend a company/person in the area that would be great. Issues are:
    - Water feeder not working need to manually feed
    - Low cutoff in question.
    - Possibly leakage that we can't detect, low water cutoff was shutting down the system. Water in sight glass was low or not there. We have had to manually feed more than in the past (was monthly, then weekly, then days)
    - No one has done efficiency, stack reading's etc. for quite a while.
    - Pipe to chimney needs replacing.
    - Some rediators not getting hot, some not getting all the way hot.

If you know of someone please email edramsay@comcast.net
    Thanks
  • I think

Cosmo Valvanis is up that way. Ed, if you strike out, get in touch with us. We're in Baltimore but Bucks County isn't that far away.

    Lost emails

    I just contacted Mr. Ramsey.

Just happened to go through all my emails, and noticed Ed's email in my spam folder. Good thing I don't delete spam until I review the subject lines!!

    Thanks for the recommendation Frank.

It pays to.... keep up with visiting the Wall! I have been away from here for a few weeks.

  • Hey Cosmo

    Hey Cosmo,

The symptoms sound like it could be a hole ot crack above the water line, or possibly a hole in a burried return line.

Let us know what you found after you look at it.

    Thanks,

    Ed Carey
