Fastening PEX on top of sub floor

Thanks for the reply.

Not looking for anything like that, there will be mud and tile on top of the sub floor. We just want a fast reliable and easy method to fasten the tube to the sub floor. I know you can use crown staple guns with some modifications. What type are you using?

Fastening PEX on top of sub floor

I will be starting a radiant job soon that requires Paex to be fastened to a wood sub floor, looking for some input on different staplers. Preferably something we can use while standing up ;-)

What works for you? Any tips, things to watch out for?

there are a few systems where wood panels w/ channels routed in them are layed down on the sub floor. Then the pex is snapped into the channel and the finished floor is put on top. Infloor & Wirsbo make systems like this.

Senco PW

is a good brand and model. Plenty of used ones out there. Expect to pay 100- 150 for a used one.

I made a cheesy extension handle with some EMT condiut and a brazing rod for the trip lever. Works fine for stand up work.

Ignore the hot-wired safety But it really speeds up the shots.

I also use it to shoot down the Roth Panel system.

I should have know you would have it all figured out ;-)

Any problems with staple going in too far and damaging the tubing? I looked at the Watts Radiant set up and there is a tubing guide at the bottom. Watts was nice enough to point me to my local rep who pointed me to my local supply houses but by the time all the pointing was done they were closed.

Yes you need the tubing guide

for stapling tube. Remove it for stapling panels, shingles, etc.

Watts Radiant (Heatway)used to make a nice CNC aluminum nose piece for the PW. I'd bet they or a wholesaler still has some.

Pretty easy to make one with a file or small grinder.
