panel radiators with cast iron

Do panel radiators work ok on a zone with all cast iron radiators? I have a sunrad in the bathroom, sunrad in the kitchen, column type radiator in office, column type radiator in living room, and I have a column type radiator that I was going to use in my bedroom but it won't work because it takes up too much space. I was going to do CI baseboard but I don't want to spent the money if I have to buy something I would rather have a panel rad.

Panels & cast iron
They don't mix well as the heat up and cool down rates are much different. I would not suggest it.0 -
thanks
I didn't think so. I never tried it either though so I wasn't sure.

depends
it could work depending on what pumping/control strategy you are utilizing. figure out your existing rads EDR and size the panels for that, and if you have constant circulation and ODR the heat up/cool down times become pretty much irrelevant.0 -
Well....
TRV's, constant circulation and a little thinking outside the box will go a long way! Chris

trvs
Im not using trv's. Constant circ with outdoor reset but no trv's. I'll do the panel radiator or slant fin baseboard and put it on it's own zone. Thanks for all the help.

We've installed
plenty of panels on systems with cast iron rads and they work fine. A little balancing is needed now and then but for the most part they heat well is sized correctly.
I actually feel that panels are fairly close to the cast iron. Certainly closer than fin tube or toe space heaters.
Never say never.
