a friend of mine needs a favor

just received this email from a friend of mine. .. ........ received a request for help - from my contacts in Germany (at the hospital). One of our units has been extended again. They've been in Iraq since July 2006 and won't be home till the end of this year (at least). They recently suffered a couple of big hits - lost 19 , plus their commanding officer (which is another story). Any chance you could write one letter - just one. Send the letters to me and I will put them in my packages to the unit, as their morale is very low right now. Just make the letters "newsy", no home address - any funny little things you could think of. I would really appreciate this favor.
Thanks. ....

you are very welcome, Mark
I was sure there would be some of you that would like to send off a letter or 2. She has been sending care packages over for 7 years and appreciates any little contribution like this very much. Ruthe0 -
An Honor To Oblige!
Ruthe,
It will be an honor to write to these brave men and women. As the father of a Marine who put in his four years and is now an Army Resrve Drill Instructor I can appreciate the need to boost morale.
Three weeks ago our insurance agent (who also is a good friend) lost his son Matthew Zindars in Ramadi Iraq. The funeral while very dignified was one of the hardest things I ever experienced.
Also my wife and I are charter members of our local Lions Club. We have a meeting Monday and since my wife is our current president I will get this on our agenda. I'm positive they will respond to your request!!
God Bless Our Defenders!

Will do...
That's the motto from my Air Force Squadron many moons ago...Ruthe, it's the least we as free citizens should do and thanks for bringing up this topic.
About the deceased, I have a quote on my office wall, which pictures Army Rangers carrying a flag-draped casket:
"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather, we should thank God that such men lived."
- General George S. Patton, Jr.
While the words may be a bit forceful - as Patton was himself - they ring true.
Take Care, PJO0
